My experience with Dr. Melvin Ross was extremely disappointing. As a new patient transferring patient, I expected a more thorough and thoughtful approach to my care. Instead, the visit felt rushed, dismissive, and unprofessional. When I asked questions about visceral fat, inflammation, calcium scoring, and insulin resistance, I was not taken seriously. Rather than addressing how these factors impact heart health, he repeatedly stated that he is “just a cardiologist” and redirected me to other providers, including a hematologist and my primary care physician. He also blatantly stated that it’s easier to just manage medication, which was very concerning to hear as a patient seeking answers about my health. What was concerning to me is this: how can a cardiologist effectively treat a patient without considering how the rest of the body is functioning? The body operates as an integrated system in which multiple organs work together to maintain overall function.
