Dr. Robert Weisen is a laid-back doctor. At my appointment, even so I felt like my words were not heard. I was told my prognosis was “insert prognosis here,” and I mentioned that I didn't agree. It seemed Dr. Weisen had already made up his mind about the prognosis, and I wasn't able to explain the situation when a flare-up occurs. This is one of the most painful experiences I go through, and it has affected my life—I’ve lost jobs and my career is at risk. I don’t take this lightly, and it’s disheartening when healthcare providers have preconceived notions about who you are based on past history instead of your current character. I am currently figuring out my next step because I don’t agree with the prognosis, but I will follow it. I plan to call my companies and nurse advocate to ask for help, as I feel the prognosis and emergency room assistance I have received aren't adequate. Overall, unless I am with someone like my partner or my parents, someone who doesn’t look like they used
