Dr. Robert Thornsberry is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with a fellowship in sports medicine. His special interests are athletic injuries, ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy of the shoulder and knee, fracture care, total joint reconstruction (knee, hip and shoulder) and resurfacing of the knee. He was the first orthopaedic surgeon in Central Georgia certified to perform a Robotic Arm Assisted Knee Surgery (MAKO) for resurfacing of the knee.
Dr. Thornsberry is a Hughston Foundation Sports Medicine Fellow and has authored multiple book chapters and medical journal articles on knee and hip surgery as well as orthopaedic trauma surgery.
Dr. Thornsberry enjoys spending time with family, golf, weight training, biking, fishing, team sports, and acts as team physician for Stratford Academy, Georgia Military College, Georgia College and State University, and the Macon Mayhem Professional Hockey Club. In the past, he has acted as team physician at the University of Kentucky, Kentucky State University, and Valdosta State University.

Knee Care: including total knee joint replacement and revision, cartilage injuries and restoration, arthritis, arthroscopy, meniscus repairs, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections and fracture care.
Shoulder Care: including total shoulder joint replacement, reverse total shoulder joint replacement, Bankart repair, bursitis, frozen shoulder, fracture care, rotator cuff pathology, arthritis, joint restoration/preservation and labral repairs.

Dr. Thornsberry is an excellent doctor. If you're looking for an experienced, profesional, knowledgeable, and skilled doctor, for sure this is your doctor. He is not a very talkative person, neither am I. What matters the most to me is the care and expertise. He definitely delivered. He treated me 5 to 6 six years before I actually had a total knee replacement. I had 2 PRP procedures, the first one worked very well, the 2nd one didn't. It was tme to move to more evasive options. That option was a total knee replacement I would recommend him 10 times over. In fact I have recommended my sister and friends to him.
