Robert Poczatek M.D. is a diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. In addition, he has received certification in spinal cord injury medicine.
Dr. Poczatek received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed an internship with the University’s Department of General Surgery, and then served as a resident physician in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Poczatek is a public lecturer and published author. He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Paraplegia Society, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama and the Jefferson County Medical Society.

I was exceptionally surprised at the wonderful experience. I felt like the doctor took a real interest in hearing about my concerns. The pain I have been having in my hands has been unbearable. Finally some answers to get the help I need.

He made me feel totally comfortable with the test. He was very personable and kept real conversation going to get my mind off what pain was involved. Highly recommend this Dr.
Dr Poczetek communicated wonderfully with my daughter who has a speech impediment. Most Drs don’t listen to her and don’t give much consideration to what she tells him. His testing was the same as two previous Drs who caused her MUCH more pain without any resolution. She was DELIGHTED when she left knowing someone listened, someone had solutions and her pain would finally be dealt with..AWESOME!
Great doctor
Great bedside manners. He was thorough, communicated nicely and had a sense of humor. I was extremely nervous regarding the procedure I was having and he was very helpful at distracting me from it.
Drs Poczatek (BROOKWOOD), Lax and Bradston (Highlands ORTHO) are uphold UAB's Core values and should be commended for their EXCELLENT Bedside Manners and Knowledge of their areas of practice! I felt HEARD and appreciate their show of EMPATHY for my suffering these past 7 months. They took their Oath to do no harm serious and I pray they continue to be blessed and favored by God. He ran test to verify where my pain was coming from. Very cordial and has a great sense of humor.
Dr. Poczatek was very nice and explained everything with details. He made sure he understood what my issues were so he could give an accurate diagnosis. It was a great visit.
So far so good
