First appointment but so far very impressed!

I've had injections for bursitis 4 times in the past and this is the first time that I've had a very painful bruise at the injection site. This was done yesterday and so far, not much relief from pain which is unusual after receiving an injection.

When I saw Dr. Swenson it was great. Problem was I had an appointment and I waited 1 hour past to see the Doctor and I was needed at work and was hoping my appointment would have been on time as I lost money and my absence affected my co-workers.

I was told I needed to take 8 to 10 xrays of my hips before doctor saw me. I was there for bursitis inflammation and pain. I know X-rays are not required to diagnose bursitis. I had no injuries. I explained to the med assistant I did not need x-rays. She left and came back and told me the doctor requires xrays before he sees me. If I chose not to get x-rays I can leave the exam room and tell exit clerk that I cancel my appointment. I canceled my appointment as instructed and left in pain and disappointed that OrthoAZ refused to help me with cortisone injection merely because I didn't want unnecessary x-rays. A sad experience for me. EW

I have not seen Dr Swenson before today. I wanted to discuss surgery on right knee. He thoroughly explain the risks, what I need to do before surgery, my medical insurance coverage and when he would do the surgery.

Dr. Swenson took the time to explain my knee injury. He was very thorough and went over my options. Appreciated his bedside manner.

Doctor was over an hour behind schedule. He did not provide any helpful treatment options for hip pain.

The plan is to move forward slowly to build my strength so I can walk fairly normal. I would highly recommend Dr Swenson for any knee procedure!!

I did not get an explanation for the problem I went in for. Instead, Dr. S focused on the "total absence of the patellae" without making a connection to that fact and the problem I went in for. Further, I was not offered a chance to review the X-rays for myself, for my own visual understanding--which is absolutely necessary if I am to manage to accommodate to the best use of my legs in spite of having somewhere mislaid my patellae. As often happens, an older woman's intuition and awareness of her own body and body changes, in my attempt to focus on the progression of the problem I now needed to understand, the good doctor, who now knew there would be no need for surgery, slumped a bit in attention and stifled a yawn. I can forgive him for that, of course, but I still want to see my X-rays and have been provided with a cellular-level explanation of my problem--which I need in order to manage the best way to live with it, if I can't modify it or correct it. Label alone doesn't work.

The wait was horrible today. We ate told to be there 15 minutes early. I waited 35 minutes to get x-rays and then another 20 to 25 minutes until I saw the doctor.

Other than being 45 minutes behind he was attentive. I understand that doctors can run behind but if it were the reverse, I would be turned away. Dr., Swenson is a good doctor.

I’ve had trouble with my right hip for five years. I’ve had epidurals, gone to chiropractors, physical therapy etc with not much release. Dr Swenson took a look at my x-rays and immediately knew it was Bursitis. I wish I would have gone to home 5 yrs sooner!

Knew and understood exactly the issues with my knee and explained clearly the problems and treatment. He also explained that it was my choice to proceed from here and the treatment and all this when I asked his opinions and recommendations.

I waited an hour and a half in the exam room. I understand emergencies though. He gave me a shot in my knee said it would take the pain away in a few minutes. 6 hours later and the pain is still there.

Went in expecting probable surgery. Left learning that a return to my OCP for treating Probable Shingles Virus. Both are very painful, but Shingles seems to be worse.

Provided options with pros & cons I was able to make the best decision for me. Articulate with terms I would understand. Personalized my health needs. Gave me options with ball park financial decisions. Liked him. Feel very comfortable working with him.

Is there a rating higher than 5 stars?? Dr. Swenson is skilled, knowledgeable, intuitive and compassionate. I have seldom felt so cared for and respected.

When you make an appointment with Dr. Swenson, you will see him and not a nurse practitioner. You can expect straight forward feedback. He tells it like it is so important decisions can be made regarding your condition. What I like most is the different processes run efficiently from the receptionists, nurses, admin staff, surgery staff, hospital staff, etc.

Dr. Swenson was very thorough, honest, and professional. He gave me the info I needed to make my decisions. I plan to call for an appointment for Steroid injections soon, and will probably schedule the hip replacement in the near future.

Dr Swenson is great. It is OrthoArizona in general that I have a major issue with. I get yearly injections in my knee. I went in on 12/13/2019 and Dr Swenson agreed and sent for my injections theu the authorization office in which OrthoAz has a cut off for sending in auth's to insurance companies. My doctors orders were not submitted to the insurance company until 2020. Meanwhile I am in excruciating pain, I cant drive or work. It took 8 weeks to get my injections. That is insane!!!
