Richard S. Bahner, MD

Dr. Richard Bahner practices at 3787 Shipyard Boulevard in Wilmington and 8115 Market Street, Suite 108. Dr. Bahner received his undergraduate degree from Duke University in Durham, NC and earned his medical degree from the Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio. He then performed his residency in general surgery at Emory University Hospital, his orthopedic residency at the Tampa Orthopedic Program in Tampa, Florida and at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Orthopedics in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Bahner then completed a one-year surgical fellowship in reconstructive hand and upper extremity at the University of Chicago Division of Orthopedics in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Richard Bahner is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and is fellowship-trained in reconstructive hand and microsurgery and surgery of the upper extremity.

He has a special interest in finger, hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder injuries, reconstructive hand and microsurgery and surgery of the upper extremity.

Committed to community service, Dr. Bahner has served on mission work to Peru, where he treated children with congenital hand problems and disorders. He is actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America and enjoys spending time with his wife, Marnie, and their four children.

Dr. Richard Bahner is affiliated and performs inpatient and outpatient surgery at the Novant Health Orthopedic Hospital, NHRMC Atlantic Surgery Center and Wilmington Surgcare. He is an owner in the Brunswick Surgery Center, LLC where he performs outpatient surgery.
