Dr. Richard Paxton, M.D., finds his work as a pediatrician immensely enjoyable and fulfilling. He cherishes the personal interaction with children and their parents, constantly seeking new ways to deliver the best possible care. His practice is deeply rooted in the belief that family is of utmost importance, fostering relationships with entire families and adopting a family-centered approach to treatment. He is adept at addressing the full spectrum of pediatric concerns, from acute illness and injury to chronic disease and behavioral issues. Dr. Paxton holds a particular interest in preventive medicine and well-child care, recognizing prevention as paramount to health.
He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Utah in 1995 with a degree in Exercise Physiology. Continuing his education at the University of Utah, he earned his medical degree in 1999 and was a member of the Pediatric Honors Program. His residency training was also completed at Primary Children’s Hospital (University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals), where his professors and mentors honored him with The Pediatric Practice Award in 2002, an accolade given to only one resident annually.
With his background in exercise and sport science, Dr. Paxton maintains a strong interest in health and fitness. He actively combats the obesity epidemic and the related issue of inactivity by attending relevant lectures and conferences. He is committed to implementing evidence-based programs designed to help children and entire families achieve greater fitness and health.
Dr. Paxton is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is affiliated with the Utah Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Intermountain Pediatrics Society. He does a very good job of listening to my questions. He then answers well and makes sure I understand. He has a good personality with my kids. He definitely enjoys being with the babies.
He is an excellent pediatrician! Started taking my daughter to him when she was 14. He is so kind and is really great at caring about her physical health as well as her mental health and always has great advise to deal with teenage emotional struggles.
Dr. Paxton and his team are amazing! The nurses are always so kind and welcoming to my girls. Dr. Paxton is incredibly knowledgeable, down to earth, and truly takes the time to listen. He doesn’t just talk to my kids—he talks with them, answering their questions and offering thoughtful advice, almost like a caring father figure. We feel very lucky to have found such a compassionate and trustworthy doctor.
