Dr. Richard Silton was an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Following college he earned his medical degree at the Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. Dr. Silton was an intern and resident in Internal medicine at the Beth Israel Hospital in New York City, New York. He then fulfilled a National Health Corp scholarship by working three years in a physician shortage area. Dr. Silton then completed a two year fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of South Florida and affiliated hospitals in Tampa, Florida.
Dr. Silton, his wife Debbie and their two young children moved to Charlotte in 1994. Dr. Silton was the allergist for Kaiser Permanente until joining the Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center in January of 1997.

The practice of Allergy and Immunology has been his professional passion since 1988. He considers the treatment of children, teens and adults a true privilege. The education of medical students and medical residents has been very important to Dr. Silton. Residents and PA students have participated in electives at the offices of CAAC. Dr. Silton has participated in lectures for medical residents and also in lectures and talks for the lay public.
Richard and Debbie Silton delighted in raising their children in Charlotte. Their daughter, Rachel and her husband, Seth live in Texas. Rachel is a middle school teacher and Seth works in information technology. Dr. and Mrs. Silton are proud grandparents of their first grandchild, Libby. Their son, Matthew lives in Utah and works in management for a technology company.
Dr. Silton and his wife enjoy travel, concerts, and theater. They always have fun visiting their family. Dr. Silton loves music. He plays clarinet, guitar and drums. Dr. and Mrs. Silton are enjoying their new roles as proud grandparents. They look forward to watching their granddaughter grow, to loving her a lot and spoiling her just a little.

Dr Silton is the best. He has been my allergist for over two decades. I am sorry that he is leaving and retiring, but he certainly deserves it. I am sure he has helped countless patients over the years. I am really thrilled with his professionalism and attention to my allergies.

He is absolutely the most thorough doctor in making sure all is going well health wise. Dr. Silton is also a kind, caring, and courteous physician. I am so grateful to have Dr. Silton to care for me these years that my allergies and I have needed an excellent doctor. I will certainly miss him but I am sure he has left me in the best of care.
