Dr. Richard Owens is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and served eight years as an officer in the US Air Force. He then attended medical school and orthopedic surgical residency at the University of Cincinnati. He received subspecialty training in foot and ankle under Dr. Steven Conti in Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Owens and his family fell in love with the Rogue Valley during a job search and relocated from the Midwest. He was recruited by Southern Oregon Orthopedics in 2010 to fill a pressing need for high-quality foot and ankle care. His professional interests include sports injuries, total ankle joint replacement, deformity correction and lower extremity trauma.

In addition to his clinical practice, dr. Owens enjoys running, golf, wine-tasting, and family life. He is active in his church and enjoys twice-yearly medical mission trips to Honduras as well as a yearly shoe ministry at Medford Gospel Mission.

He’s an awesome listener. I feel like I had a home run in regards to getting a great Doctor. Nothing but good to say about the doctor or his staff very good people I feel like compassion is their passion and they’re very competent. Sorry about the book.
From the moment I walked in the staff at the front counter were very helpful. Each of the people interacted with were great. I was in and out with friendly smiles. I went home and I actually boast about it too many people saying if they ever need to go into that urgent care Walk-in for a foot hand injury they should go there. Unfortunately I did not but what a fabulous resource I was only referred there after I found out it was broken. I wish I had started there at first.
Smart, very friendly, not rushed through. I got more information that was very thorough than I had gotten elsewhere. I will be going back to Dr. Owens for any foot care I need. I will also refer friends and family.
He took the time to explain my injury, what my treatment options were and give me the statistics for which had the highest success rate. I was highly impressed and would definitely recommend him.

Dr. Owens is always so professional and knowledgeable. He takes his time to assure all of our questions are answered and we understand fully the diagnosis and treatment plan. Reviewing X-rays with his is also so helpful so we can fully understand what is going on.
