Dr. Richard Owens is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and served eight years as an officer in the US Air Force. He then attended medical school and orthopedic surgical residency at the University of Cincinnati. He received subspecialty training in foot and ankle under Dr. Steven Conti in Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Owens and his family fell in love with the Rogue Valley during a job search and relocated from the Midwest. He was recruited by Southern Oregon Orthopedics in 2010 to fill a pressing need for high-quality foot and ankle care. His professional interests include sports injuries, total ankle joint replacement, deformity correction and lower extremity trauma.
"I was interested in small-town life, the outdoor activities, and the opportunity to practice big city medicine without the drawbacks of city life. Southern Oregon Orthopedics, with its sub-specialty focus, offers that opportunity."
In addition to his clinical practice, dr. Owens enjoys running, golf, wine-tasting, and family life. He is active in his church and enjoys twice-yearly medical mission trips to Honduras as well as a yearly shoe ministry at Medford Gospel Mission.

Able to cover a lot of ground in a limited time span. Conveys information and updates in an understandable. Remembers to get back to my initial questions. He makes appropriate referral suggestions if I'm asking about something that is not in his immediate orbit, e.g. peripheral neuropathy.I've worked with Dr. Owens over years now, and he's top-of-the list for reliability. I trust him.

As always, Dr. Owens and his staff are enjoyable to talk to and are very helpful. They put you at ease immediately and let you know how you are doing and what the next step is in your recovery. I recommend Dr. Owens to friends that may benefit from his expertise.

Dr.Owens was knowledgeable, kind and spent time to explain what’s going on. Unfortunately tho the wait was extremely long, I wasn’t pulled back to a room until about 50 mins after my scheduled time then sat in the room for a long period of time as well.
Very courteous and to the point. Did not go straight to using surgery to fix my foot, so that was awesome. Highly recommend. Quick, in and out service. The whole staff were fabulous and made me feel welcome
Dr. Owen's is a wonderful Doctor! He just did a Clayton procedure on my foot and I'm very pleased with the outcome. I recommend if you have any type of issues with your feet Dr. Owen's is the man to see for sure. Thank you very much again.
