Dr. Richard C. Harkaway, M.D. said, "As a urologist, I have had a special interest in treating low testosterone for 25 years. Over the past few years, there have been some new and exciting developments in this field that have revolutionized our approach. While normal testosterone in men is considered to be somewhere between 300-1,000 ng/dL, there is a new push which is well substantiated in the medical literature to bring men back to where they were when they were 18 years old which is somewhere between 900 and 1100 ng/dL. This high normal level of testosterone not only improves a sense of well-being and sexual performance and libido, but is protective against heart disease, bone disease, and Alzheimer’s disease - this treatment is actually also beneficial for women although the numbers, of course, are different. When women are 18 years old their testosterone normally runs between 150 and 250 ng/dL. As they get older their testosterone declines as well with the same benefits restored by returning them back to their original levels. It is the difference between normal and optimum hormone levels that have patients feeling so well and improving their overall health. This treatment, while not traditionally covered by any insurance plan, has a cost of a few dollars a day. I have never had such happy patients in my life."
