Dr. Boyer has operated on my handicapped daughter, my wife, and 5 times on myself. He listens well, explains stuff well, and spends the time with you until you are comfortable with and understand what he is saying. He answers all your questions. Very knowledgeable and skilled. Never had any problem with his surgeries.

He was genuine,didn't rush me and listened to what I had to say. I could hear his dictation from my room and he repeated my comments and concerns almost very batim.

He was extremely arrogant and condescending to me. Said I should keep getting steroid shots even though my back will get worse. Said he’d do the surgery if I wanted because he gets paid a lot for it. It was a horrible experience and I won’t be back. I definitely don’t want someone who treated me so badly to be cutting into me. I left the appointment crying.

Dr. Boyer is a great surgeon. Has performed 3 surgeries for me. He has excellent mannerisms. Easy to talk to. Uses plain English not a lot of medical terminology.
His staff all seem to enjoy the office atmosphere and are pleasant to deal with.
The physician assistants all seem knowledgeable and are very kind.

Dr. Boyer earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center and completed his residency at the University of Missouri, Columbia Hospital and Clinics. As a member of professional organizations such as the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgery, Tennessee Medical Association, and American Medical Association, Dr. Boyer has given several lectures on presentations on different neurosurgery topics. He also recently served as president of the Tennessee Neurosurgical Society. Dr. Boyer has practiced neurosurgery in Knoxville since 1998.
