Dr. Reza Alavi is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and earned a Sports Medicine Certificate of Added Qualification in primary care sports medicine. After completing his medical degree in Iran, he practiced for ten years as a board certified orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Alavi moved to New Jersey to continue a residency in internal medicine before getting his sports medicine fellowship in St. Petersburg, Florida. His primary interests include non-operative and ultrasound guided procedures.
Dr. Alavi has presented at many orthopedic conferences regarding sports medicine research and findings to other physicians. He has also given lectures to patients and primary care physicians about sports medicine pain and their proper examinations and techniques.
Dr. Alavi is a member of numerous organizations including the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine. He has also been the team physician for multiple schools in Tampa and St. Petersburg including Keswick High School, Northside Christian High School, Eckerd College and University of South Florida.
Dr. Alavi prides himself on being able to put the needs of his patients first. He believes that there is nothing more pleasurable than helping people reach their health and happiness. Dr. Alavi treats each patient with the same care and compassion that he would his family and friends.
In his spare time, Dr. Alavi enjoys playing sports like basketball, soccer and riding bikes. He also rides motorcycles, skis and practices jujitsu.

Dr. Alavi is an excellent doctor. He is very knowledgeable, professional, and takes time to communicate and reassure his patients. He's been my doctor for a few years now. He's awesome.

Advocated for me to get a STAT MRI but then didn’t complete the prior authorization needed. Delay of care for now I have to wait till Monday to schedule MRI.
Friendly, knowledgeable and keeps me, the patient, calm.
He’s alway very king and gentle with the procedure I receive. He’s always smiling and the same. He seems genuinely concerned and advises me accordingly.

I did not know the hip,left, would dislike me. Had some errands to run, blood draw etc. The left is really barking. I am sitting while it throbs at noon , Tuesday Was not told to experience minor pain that intensifies when walking lifting or doing laundry. I wish we were told after effects set in late last night,9pm.
