Dr. Reza Alavi is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and earned a Sports Medicine Certificate of Added Qualification in primary care sports medicine. After completing his medical degree in Iran, he practiced for ten years as a board certified orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Alavi moved to New Jersey to continue a residency in internal medicine before getting his sports medicine fellowship in St. Petersburg, Florida. His primary interests include non-operative and ultrasound guided procedures.
Dr. Alavi has presented at many orthopedic conferences regarding sports medicine research and findings to other physicians. He has also given lectures to patients and primary care physicians about sports medicine pain and their proper examinations and techniques.
Dr. Alavi is a member of numerous organizations including the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine. He has also been the team physician for multiple schools in Tampa and St. Petersburg including Keswick High School, Northside Christian High School, Eckerd College and University of South Florida.
Dr. Alavi prides himself on being able to put the needs of his patients first. He believes that there is nothing more pleasurable than helping people reach their health and happiness. Dr. Alavi treats each patient with the same care and compassion that he would his family and friends.
In his spare time, Dr. Alavi enjoys playing sports like basketball, soccer and riding bikes. He also rides motorcycles, skis and practices jujitsu.

Dr Alavi allows patients to describe their issues and listens to what the patient is saying. He considers all possibilities. I appreciate his thoughtfulness and concern.

Dr. Alavi was great. He explained everything regarding my situation and told me about different options. Once I made my final decision he had everything waiting for me at the front desk just as I returned to checkout. He is a great doctor.
He spent less than 3 minutes with me. Did a short physical exam, dismissed my concerns, glanced at my films, then told me to make an appointment with my previous Doctor at the same FL Orthopaedic Clinic. Unbelievable. Would NOT recommend.

Great Dr Alavi All I can say is I walked in with pain and relief after he took care of me came instantly I was able to walk pain free for the first time in six months He listened to me and immediately knew what was wrong Thank you DrAlavi and the staff there are amazing
