Dr. Regina B. Dandy, D.O., first felt the call to become a caretaker during career day in elementary school. As she grew up in Jackson, Mississippi taking care of her elderly grandparents and their medical ailments, this call towards the field of medicine only grew stronger. Dr. Dandy wasted no time and took the steps necessary to fulfill her dream.
She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and completed her residency at the Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. Dr. Dandy later became board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She is also an active member of several medical societies such as the American Academy of Family Medicine, the National Medical Association, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Dandy was drawn to the family medicine specialty because of the diversity it offers. “In family medicine, we often serve as the front door in medical care. I’m the first person that many people come to,” said Dandy. “Because of this, I see, do, and impact the patient in a lot of ways. It’s very engaging.”
Whether she’s working hard in the SouthCoast Health office to serve her patients or watching her two boys play baseball, Dr. Dandy stays busy. Outside of work and her family life, Dr. Dandy is also an avid reader, chef, and volunteer at her church.
