Dr. Gunatilake, also known as “Dr. G”, pursued his lifelong passion for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and graduated from University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine. He went on to complete his residency at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, in Arizona, followed by his fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, at Duke University Medical Center, in North Carolina.
Dr. Gunatilake most recently served as the Medical Director of Obstetrical Services at University of Oklahoma, where he was recognized for his leadership in improving obstetrical quality and safety.
With a passion for the advancement of obstetrical care, Dr. Gunatilake has been heavily involved with a variety of research initiatives. He has been a principal investigator in several clinical / translational research studies. These studies have helped him author significant publications in the following areas; fetal origins of adult cardiometabolic disease, maternal obesity, and critical care. In addition, Dr. Gunatilake has been honored to receive both biomedical research awards and faculty awards for medical student teaching.
