Dr. Premaratne earned his medical degree from Riga Stradins University in Latvia before relocating to the United States for his medical training. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in Saint Louis, Missouri, where he also served as junior faculty and Chief Resident.
Following his residency, Dr. Premaratne completed a rheumatology fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center. In 2012, he moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, to address the need for rheumatology care in Mohave County. He managed his own practice until merging with Arizona Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates (AARA) in August 2026.
Dr. Premaratne has also completed specialized training in musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided injections to improve patient diagnosis and outcomes. He currently maintains admitting privileges at Havasu Regional Medical Center, where he serves on the Board of Trustees.
In his spare time, Dr. Premaratne enjoys traveling with his family and participating in outdoor activities.
