A native of Oklahoma, Dr. Mercer received both her bachelor’s degree in biology and her medical degree from Texas Tech University. Dr. Mercer completed a one-year internship in internal medicine and a three-year residency in ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Mercer completed her formal medical training with a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Iowa.
Dr. Mercer is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

She is the most friendly eye Dr. and she explained things that are happening with my eyes.
The testing was very thorough. Although we had very short time with Dr Mercer, we could asking for certain tests to be done based on the results she immediately had from the testing they were conducting. So even though we didn't have much FaceTime with her, she was involved in every step of the 2-hour testing. There are so many different vision issues she had to test for. When she did come in, she was very clear on Her diagnosis. She is so excellent that is why I am sure she is very busy. I would like to know what vision problem is causing the words on the page to bounce so much, and if there is anything to reduce the bounce or keep it from getting worse. Thank you for taking such good care of the gift of vision!! Florence Renner
