R. Marty Smith, OD

Dr. R. Marty Smith, O.D. is a native of Hindman, Kentucky. He completed his undergraduate studies at Morehead State University in 1991 and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1995. He completed fellowships at Commonwealth Eye Surgery, Lexington, Kentucky, and at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, Florida.

Dr. Smith has been an optometric physician at Commonwealth Eye Surgery since May of 1996. He either currently serves or has previously served as adjunct clinical professor for the University of Houston College of Optometry, Southern College of Optometry, Nova Southeastern College of Optometry, Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University, Illinois College of Optometry, Indiana University School of Optometry, University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, and The Ohio State University School of Optometry.

Dr. Smith is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Kentucky Optometric Association, and the Society for Excellence in Eye Care. He resides in Nicholasville with his wife, Alison, sons, Dylan and Nicholas, and daughter, Ainsley.
