So patient. The injection wasn’t the best experience but Dr Curd said…you did good. My thumb feels wonderful! I’ll be back! Thank you.

He was very terse and short with me. He seemed more concerned about other things than patient care. I did not feel comfortable with his approach and his bedside manner. He did very little to explain what was going on and did not provide the level of customer service that I would expect.

Wonderful bedside manner. Takes time to explain procedure prior to it.

Very nice and cheery! Was nice to see that. Looked at my hand and explained things. Was a good visit . Hopefully the other visits are as good! (Injections) Not sure what the insurance will do , I heard they won’t cover injections but will the surgery.
Thanks!! Peggy

Short but right to the diagnosis, treatment, and future follow up. That is what I prefer! Stay independent. Your physicians and administrators know how to run a clinic and specialty hospital keeping the patient the central focus

From Dr. Curd As a kid, I was fascinated by medicine. A family friend was an OR nurse and suggested I volunteer at my local hospital. I thought I wanted to become an emergency room doctor, but in medical school, I found that I really enjoyed orthopedics and surgery the most. I like helping fix people from the start of their treatment to their final recovery. I feel like the luckiest guy alive. It is an overused axiom, but I actually get to get up everyday and go to work doing multiple things I love—therefore I have never worked a day in my life!
About Dr. Curd Dr. Curd chose orthopedic surgery because of the diversity it offers. In orthopedics, he sees everyone from newborn babies through grandparents and great grandparents and helps restore their functionality so that they can get back to what they enjoy doing.
His practice is focused on hand surgery, congenital hand reconstruction, and microvascular surgery, as well as upper extremity surgery and tissue transfer. He cares for injuries and deformities from the shoulder to the fingertip. He is a frequent lecturer and guest speaker on topics covering hand and upper extremity surgery. He has given lectures and performed surgery on five continents.
When Dr. Curd isn’t caring for his patients, he can be found on the sidelines as the Associate Team Physician for the Sioux Falls Stampede and Sioux Falls Canaries. He also enjoys playing the guitar, music, and athletic endeavors like rowing, cycling, hiking, snowboarding, scuba diving, and flying.
Dr. Curd has completed the Leadership Fellows Program (LFP) of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS). He is the president elect of Physician Hospitals of America. Dr. Curd is a senator for the state of South Dakota. He immensely enjoys solving problems—putting together groups of people with very disparate and different ideas and finding a collaborative solution that all can support. He is involved in various community endeavors and boards.
