Qingwei Robert Yan, MD

Dr. Qingwei Robert Yan, M.D., was born in Shanghai, China. Besides English, he is fluent in several dialects of Chinese, including Cantonese, Mandarin, and Shanghainese. After graduating summa cum laude from the Boston University undergraduate program and then M.D. from Boston University School of Medicine, he completed his internship and residency training in urology at the University of California, Davis Medical Center. He has been providing urologic services to patients for over 13 years. He is the former Chief of Urology at the Summit Campus of Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland. He is Board Certified in adult and pediatric urology, and is a member of the American Urological Association and California Medical Association. He also served as a board member of the Bay Area Tumor Institute for 8 years.

Dr. Qingwei Robert Yan, M.D., practices encompass all facets of urology. He evaluates and manages a variety of urinary and sexual problems, including kidney stones, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, and various urological cancers. He treats both men and women.

Dr. Qingwei Robert Yan, M.D., performs a variety of urologic surgical procedures from minimally invasive kinds to more extensive endeavors. He has been performing robotic surgeries for kidney and prostate cancers, reconstructive surgeries, endoscopic surgeries for benign prostate conditions, bladder tumors, and ureteral stones, percutaneous surgeries for large kidney stones, as well as corrective surgeries for urinary incontinence and erectile problems. He performs endoscopic evaluations of the bladder, prostate evaluations and biopsies with ultrasound, vasectomy, and minor urological excisional surgeries in his office under local anesthesia.

Dr. Qingwei Robert Yan, M.D., actively listens to his patients, talking, educating, and discussing with them all urological problems that concern and bother them. He believes in giving patients options for treatment, and empowering the patients in the decision-making of their own health and health care issues. He believes that the optimal care for the patient is one that is provided on a partnership basis between the doctor and the patient.
