I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little more about myself and my experience. I was raised in northern Illinois, living and attending school in Rockford until fifth grade when my family moved to Crystal Lake. There, my primary education continued until I graduated from Prairie Ridge High School and I left to earn my undergraduate degree in marketing and management at DePaul University in Chicago.
As the son of a fellowship-trained cardiologist, health care has always been a steady influence in my life. I have fond memories of my father sharing stories of the surgeries and patient care he provided and being impressed with the life-saving impact physicians had on patients’ lives during what were often frightening and vulnerable times. My two older brothers chose to follow my father into medicine, one also as a cardiologist, the other in emergency medicine. I, however, elected to chart a different career path, at least initially.
I invested one year in law school before accepting that my true interest also lay in medicine. This change, of course, required me to go back to college to complete pre-med science courses before entering Xavier University School of Medicine, where I earned my Medical Degree with Honors Distinction. Following medical school, I completed three years of family medicine residency, two of which serving as Chief Resident, at Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. I then pursued the specialized training of a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship from Wright State University, Kettering Sports Medicine in Kettering, Ohio.
During my last two years of residency/fellowship training, I also moonlighted in a walk-in urgent care clinic where I provided assessment and treatment for a variety of illnesses and injuries. I served as a team physician for numerous high school, collegiate, elite, and professional sports teams where I provided emergent care, stabilization, suturing, splinting, and other medical procedures during games and events.
I hold a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Family medicine, and as a non-operative Primary Care Sports Medicine physician, I am trained to assess and treat the musculoskeletal injuries of both young and old that can occur during work or play. I have a special interest in post-concussion assessment and cognitive testing. It is my goal to provide my patients with the highest caliber of care and medical attention to help them quickly on the road to recovery and resume active lives.
Outside of my profession, I am a big fan of sports – especially the Chicago Bear, Cubs, and Blackhawks teams. I enjoy travel and every opportunity of being with my family.
Thank you for entrusting me with your medical care. I look forward to meeting you!
