Dr. Shea earned a B.A. in Chemistry, magna cum laude, from Goucher College in 2013 and his M.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2019. He then completed residency and advanced fellowship training in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery at University of Maryland/Shock Trauma. In recognition of his dedication to research and academic excellence, Dr. Shea received the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Research Award in 2017.

Dr. Shea believes the best care begins with listening. By partnering with each patient, he develops individualized treatment plans—surgical or nonsurgical—that help them return to the activities they enjoy.
Outside of work, Dr. Shea enjoys skiing and rock climbing.
Dr. Shea currently sees patients in Reno, Sparks, and Carson City, providing advanced neurosurgical care and state-of-the-art treatment options for brain and spine conditions throughout Northern Nevada.
