Dr. Peter Lopez is a board certified orthopedic surgeon by the American Board of orthopedic surgery. He was born and raised in New York City and attended City University of New York at Queens College, where he received his undergraduate degree. He received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut and is an avid Husky fan. His surgical internship was at Columbia University, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, where he served as chief resident. He completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Loma Linda University in California.
Dr. Lopez practices general orthopedic surgery and has a particular interest in hand and upper extremity conditions, including fractures, nerve problems, torn tendons, and cartilage injuries. Dr. Lopez’s philosophy is to avoid surgery except as a last resort – instead using other nonsurgical treatments such as injections. He also uses other types of injections for conditions like Dupuytren’s disease and knee arthritis. For conditions such as Carpal Tunnel, Cubital Tunnel Syndrome, Thumb Basal joint arthritis surgery, Tennis Elbow, and Rotator Cuff problems, he uses arthroscopic surgery or small incision techniques.
He is a member of multiple medical organizations, including the American Academy of orthopedic surgeons, the Florida Medical Association, American Medical Association and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Lopez enjoys participating in endurance sports such as triathlons and marathons. He has run in both the Boston and the New York City Marathons and competed in several Triathlons. He enjoys spending time with his family traveling, biking, running, and swimming in his spare time.

Dr Lopez was very thorough, direct, and polite in my examination. I will see him in a couple of weeks for my follow up after a ct scan, and look forward to hearing what he advises for my wrist.
I was impressed by the entire office. I had x-rays, saw Dr. Lopez and was fitted for a wrist brace. All in one timely visit. Dr. Lopez explained my situation clearly.

So I had to wait a few days before I wrote this because I looked at my Care summary and I was livid. I went to see Dr. Lopez for my shoulder and the first thing that was mentioned on my care summary was overweight. Discussed healthy lifestyle. First of all that never happened. There was no discussion about my lifestyle or my weight which is not why I went to see Dr. Lopez, that is what my primary care physician is for she is aware of my weight and she is aware of my lifestyle which if he had cared to ask is not unhealthy I walk I work on my farm. I eat well and my weight is being managed by my primary care. I feel like that by that comment Dr. Lopez looked at me and saw my weight and dismissed everything else. Now I know he has me set up for an MRI and a revisit and physical therapy, but I don’t understand why my weight was the number one thing on our Care summary when that was never addressed in my visit nor what I have wanted it to be addressed. I am very disappointed and feel dismis
