Peter Howard, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon, specializing in arthroscopy, sports medicine, and ligament surgery. He is currently a team physician for the Toronto Blue Jays and Dunedin Blue Jays. He completed his undergraduate degree at Michigan State University, medical degree at Wayne State University, and his residency at Western Michigan University. During his sports medicine fellowship at the Houston Methodist Hospital, Dr. Howard worked cared for the Houston Astros, Texans, Dynamo, Rockets, the Rice University Owls, and the NASA astronaut corps at the Johnson Space Center.
Dr. Howard treats the full spectrum of disorders affecting joints, cartilage, and ligaments. His special interests include joint preservation surgery, misalignment of the patella, shoulder injuries, shoulder replacement, hip tendon and ligament injuries, fracture care, sports injuries such as ACL tears, and biologic treatments.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). Dr. Howard is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ABOS). Dr. Howard stays up to date on the newest treatment options so that he can provide the latest treatments to his patients. He is a consultant for ConMed Corporation, helping engineers and designers of medical devices make their products better for patients.
Dr. Howard’s treatment philosophy is to try to exhaust all non-surgical options before considering surgery. He works with his patients to educate and explain their condition so that they can fully understand their treatment options. If surgery is a choice made by the patient, he believes in being with the patient through their full course of surgery and recovery. He also works closely with the physical and occupational therapists that care for his patients.
In his spare time, Dr. Howard enjoys spending quality time with his wife and caring for his five children. He enjoys fishing, boating, and cooking for his family.

Dr. Howard impressed me, full stop. I've had several surgeries in my lifetime, many doctors + comparing the notes of several doctor's for this surgery. Dr. Howard is rock star compared to the other Surgeon's. I'm so glad God put Dr. Howard in my life for this very difficult surgery that I don't think some of the other doctor's could even do. Dr. Howard is a class act & has put many of my concerns about this upcoming surgery to rest. Gratefully, D. Frisina

I would recommend Dr. Howard to anyone. He really has been there for me. He did a bilateral hip scope for me a couple years ago. I have not seen him for almost 2 years and he remembered me like it was yesterday, which I think is rare for someone to remember you after so long. His nurse Deann also remembered me. I saw him today and unfortunately got some bad news but he explained everything well. Will need to see them again moving forward but wouldn't want to do it anywhere else. Thank you Dr Howard and staff!

Excellent Dr and very comforting. He helps you understand what is happening and is very logical in his approach. Grateful to have him as my Dr for this problem I have been having with my elbow and arm.

Their expertise in orthopedic care is evident, and I felt confident in every step of the treatment process. What impressed me most was their personalized approach. Dr. Howard didn’t just focus on the injury. I always felt well informed and cared for.
