Dr. Sternenberg has both extensive knowledge and a communication style that I wish were present in all practitioners. From my first consultation through the collagenase injection I just had, he could answer my questions with reference to the medical literature and when appropriate, would straight-forwardly say 'We don't know' or 'The research suggests this but the evidence isn't stong'. I had complete confidence in him, and indeed the injection went well and fully resolved the contracture within 2 days. I'd have no hesitation coming back to Dr. Sternenberg for any hand or upper extremity issue.
Dr. Sternenberg comes highly rated so I need to trust his opinion, however he only spent about 5 min with me and told me he could not help, but also did not explain the imaging report. I am struggling to understand how I can heal from what the mri reported, and my pain and swelling have increased. I start PT tomorrow so hopefully that provider will help me understand what is going on, and help me heal. Maybe all will be fine in time, but I did not receive any reassurance from this doctor.
Experience was amazing!
I went to see Dr Sternenberg for what I thought was a tendon cyst on a tendon to my right thumb. After the exam, Dr Sternenberg determined it was osteoarthritis of the CMC joint and was treated with a cortisone injection. Dr Sternenberg was thorough and got to the root cause of the soreness in my hand. Thanks for that!
Dr. Sternenberg is treating me for some early-stage arthritis and pain in my hand. The first visit and treatment gives me cautious hope. Dr. Sternenberg has over 26 years experience that I trust!

Came in for consult about Dupuytren's, haven't been treated yet, but based on his knowledge and demeanor I 100% trust him to inject collagenase to treat my hand (which I will be scheduling soon). He realized quickly that I already had some knowledge, tailored his responses to my level, addressed my questions about recovery and risks completely.
There should be a six star category! Most excellent.
