Dr. Patrick McDonough, M.D., was born in Hawaii and raised in Florida. He earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Virginia, and after a short stint working in industry, he attended medical school at Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors. Dr. McDonough then joined the United States Army, where he completed two years of general surgery training, followed by a Urology residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. After residency, Dr. McDonough served as the Chief of Urology and founder of the robotic surgical program at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, NC. After 20 years of active and reserve military service, Dr. McDonough happily transitioned back to civilian practice in the Washington DC area. Dr. McDonough was most recently on the clinical faculty at George Washington University, and he is excited to now be a part of AA Urology.
Dr. McDonough is a skilled minimally invasive surgeon who enjoys the challenge of solving complex problems through small incisions. He treats a broad range of general urologic conditions, and has particular interest in kidney stones, BPH, and single incision laparoscopic and robotic surgical treatments for benign and malignant disorders of the urinary tract.
In his free time, Dr. McDonough enjoys playing, coaching and watching basketball, as well as spending time and traveling with his wife and four children.
