Dr. Owen Mogabgab is an interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South. He is a native of New Orleans and a graduate of St. Paul’s School in Covington, Louisiana. He graduated summa cum laude from Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston.
Dr. Mogabgab completed his internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He then joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School as an Instructor of Medicine to continue research with the TIMI Study Group while working as a hospitalist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He then completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he was also named a chief fellow.
After completing his training, Dr. Mogabgab returned to New Orleans to join the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and interventional cardiologist at Tulane University School of Medicine where he cared for patients at Tulane Medical Center, University Medical Center, and the Southeast Louisiana VA Healthcare System.
