After graduating from medical school at Olabisi Onabanjo University in Nigeria, she returned to England, United Kingdom where she was born. She trained while there at the Guys, Kings and Thomas Psychiatry Training Program before moving to the United states in 2002. She completed her General Psychiatry residency and Child Psychiatry Fellowship at the University at Buffalo, New York. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Clinical TMS Society. Dr. Akinnusi has extensive experience in treating a wide variety of Psychiatric disorders in both Adults and Children. She utilizes a comprehensive approach including pharmacotherapy and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. Dr. Akinnusi is a devoted Christian and is married with a son. She enjoys traveling and reading.

Dr Akinnusi was a welcome surprise! After waiting years to find a psychiatrist, she was recommended and I couldn’t be more grateful to have her in my life. She understood everything I was struggling to say, was familiar with my rare medical conditions, and was more than willing to help! I feel better just knowing I’ve got someone as competent as her on my team. She spent a lot of time with me and came up with a plan of action by the end of the first appt. I’m so thankful to have found such a caring provider in Dr Akinnusi.

Dr. Akinnusi basically saved my life during my middle aged nervous breakdown. She is no-nonsense and knowledgeable. When my general practitioner and therapist were not able to accurately identify my anxiety (after 18 months), Dr. A did it in my first visit, and by the next day my clouds had finally parted.
She's attentive and provides constructive feedback without making you feel like you've completely lost it. Genuinely concerned about your well-being.
Dr. Akinnusi is a very compassionate and caring doctor.She cares about her patients as well as their care givers. It shows in her interactions with both her patients and their family.
