Dr. Nicolas Zea was born and raised in Colombia and received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his general surgery internship and residency followed by a vascular surgery fellowship at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. He practiced with LSU Health Sciences Center and Tulane Medical Center for 5 years prior to joining Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons in 2021.
He is board-certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). Dr. Zea’s special interests include dialysis work, peripheral arterial disease, limb preservation, and amputation prevention, carotid disease, aortic aneurysms, and surgical spine exposures.
Dr. Zea is a member of the American College of Physicians, Vascular and Endovascular Surgical Society, and Surgical Vascular Society. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences and has published numerous works on the subject of vascular surgery. Additionally, he is a native Spanish speaker due to his heritage and upbringing in South America.

The young man I was seen by, Nicholas Zea, was rude, uninterested in listening to me and spoke to me in a degrading manner. He rolled his eyes at me while I was sharing my symptoms with him. He basically said he didn’t know why I even made an appointment with him, more than once! Even though his Staff advised that I needed to be seen due to the symptoms, I was experiencing! I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect in my life by a supposed doctor! I do not recommend him at all!

Dr Zea is my favorite surgeon from CTVS. He thinks outside the box and has solved my issue with ease.
Dr. Zea is awesome! He amputated my leg and at my follow up yesterday, he gave me insight to lost thoughts and memories. He did a great job with my surgery he amongst other docs saved my life I was literally dying! For that I will always be grateful! Thank you Dr. Zea! I thank God for you everyday, you didn't take my leg, you gave me a second chance at life! Thank you Lorena for making us feel welcome and at ease!!
