Dr. Nicolas Bonnaig is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is fellowship trained in sports medicine. In addition to sports medicine, his specialties include general orthopaedics, arthroscopic surgery, reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee, and fracture care. He sees patients in the East Cobb, Marietta and Woodstock offices.
Dr. Bonnaig graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Minor in Chemistry. He received his Medical Degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Cincinnati. He then completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship at The Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee.
Dr. Bonnaig has received numerous academic honors and awards including graduating Cum Laude from Meharry Medical College, the Matthew Walker Surgical Society Award -awarded to the top medical student in surgery, and the Boston College AHANA Scholars Award. During his fellowship training, he served as an assistant team physician for the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, University of Memphis, and the Triple A affiliate for the Saint Louis Cardinals, the Memphis Red Birds. He has served as team physician for local area high schools in Memphis and Cincinnati. He has served as the team physician for Lassiter High School in Marietta, Georgia and is currently a team physician for Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Dr. Bonnaig is involved in research and education. He has published articles and textbook chapters related to injuries of the shoulder, elbow and knee and given lectures to orthopaedic residents in training.
Dr. Bonnaig and his wife, Amber, a Dentist, live in Marietta with their children. During his free time, he enjoys playing sports, international travel, and spending time with his family.

Usually get a cortisone shot on my shoulder by a nice lady and i never hardly feel it . By the time i get to the car it feels great .Although he was nice i don’t know what he did but the shot hurt bad and my shoulder has been really hurting since then .
Dr Bonnaig is friendly and easy to talk with. He listened and took his time explaining my knee problem in easy to understand terms.
Amazing doctor! So wise and personable. I will definitely come back to him if needed!!
Answered all my questions and called me the next day to see how I was doing.
Knew exactly what he was doing, listened well, outlined my options. Chose steroid shot for now. Explained my X-rays. Told me to check in and let him know how it was holding up. Advised surgery as next step.
I have never dealt with smote patient, kind and attentive physician! Dr. Bonnaig treated my issue and gave me a clear pathway for follow up. A great experience! 💯
