Dr. J. Nicholas Rachel completed his undergraduate degree at the University of South Alabama before receiving his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile. Following his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Rachel went on to receive advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery.
As a board-certified pediatric and adult hand and upper extremity surgeon, Dr. Rachel’s practice focuses on the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of hand, wrist, and elbow injuries and conditions.
Dr. Rachel is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. When he’s not seeing patients, he enjoys golfing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

Excellent doctor. Answered my questions and took the time to explain what was happening to my wrist.
He is a great doctor. He listens and honestly tries to do what is best for his patients.
Great bedside manners
It's rare to have a doctor spend time with you, answer your questions, and explain everything in medical terms and general terms. Dr. Rachel is one of the best communicators I've met in the medical world. He's also caring and knowledgeable, and focused on treatment triage. 10 starts if I could double them!
