Hospital. He completed his medical training with a fellowship in Pain Management at the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Elkins is proficient in all areas of pain medicine, including spinal injections, radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord stimulators, sympathetic blocks, intrathecal delivery pumps and headaches. With his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation training, Dr. Elkins brings a unique perspective to pain management with an emphasis on regaining physical function and return to the activities that make life enjoyable.
Along with being trained in all pain medicine techniques and procedures, Dr. Elkins is also proficient in EMG testing and the treatment and management of stroke, brain injury, sports medicine, burns, spinal cord injury and many other neurologic and rheumatologic conditions.
Dr. Elkins is a fifth-generation Gila Valley (Safford/Thatcher area) native who is also fluent in Spanish. The goals of his medical training have always included returning to the Gila Valley. He has also extended his services to the rural communities of Cobre Valley. Outside of medicine, Dr. Elkins enjoys travel, the outdoors, sports, and spending time with his family.
