He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Utah. He completed residency training in ophthalmology at the Pennsylvania State University. He then completed a fellowship in cornea and external disease at the University of Michigan’s Kellogg Eye Center.

Dr. Behunin was born and raised in a multi-generation coal-mining family in Clawson, Utah.

He completed residency training in ophthalmology at the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Behunin is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Cornea Society, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. His writing has been featured in many ophthalmology textbook chapters, popular ophthalmic magazines, and in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Behunin specializes in Corneal transplantation, including full-thickness and partial thickness corneal transplants (DMEK, DSAEK, DALK, and PK), Ocular surface surgeries including Pterygium removal, Superficial Keratoplasty, Amniotic Membrane Transplantation, and Simple Limbal Epithelial Stem Cell Transplantation (SLET), Refractive Surgery (LASIK, PRK, etc.), Cataract Surgery, including complex cataract removal, multifocal, toric, and laser-assisted cataract surgery, General Ophthalmology, and Corneal Crosslinking.
Dr. Behunin’s family is the greatest joy of his life. He and his wife, Jodie, are the parents of 3 children. They enjoy sports, watching cheesy movies, and exploring nature.
