Dr. Neil Kumar is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He received his undergraduate degree at Lehigh University and medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Drexel University, where he served as chief resident. He then completed an Adult and Pediatric Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Connecticut and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

He was raised in Valrico and graduated from King High School. He received his undergraduate degree at Lehigh University and medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Drexel University, where he served as chief resident. He then completed an Adult and Pediatric Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Connecticut and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Dr. Kumar has been widely published in several major sports medicine journals and presented at several orthopedic surgical conferences. He is also a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Doctor Kumar cares for all conditions related to sports medicine and athletic injuries. His special interests include tendon, muscle, and ligament injuries, repair and reconstruction, arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery, cartilage repair, fracture care, as well as regenerative medicine.
Dr. Kumar is a member of numerous organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine Society, and the Florida Orthopaedic Society.
Dr. Kumar is passionate about his practice of medicine. He takes pride in caring for patients of all ages and activity levels, and believes patient education and understanding of diagnosis and treatment options are extremely important. Dr. Kumar believes in working as a team with other caregivers and the patient to get them feeling better and back to work and activities as soon as possible. Each patient is treated as if they were a member of his own family.
In his spare time, Dr. Kumar enjoys spending time with his wife, Bhumi, and their two children, Niam and Ava (and their puppy Marlon!). He loves sports, reading, and continually learning.

Dr. Kumar listened to the events leading up to my continued knee pain, performed an efficient exam and looked at my X-ray. He immediately treated the problem and advised a return to their primary care ortho for a check up. He was knowledgeable enough to know I have limited treatment options.
