Neil Patel, DPM

Dr. Patel was born and raised in Troy, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. An avid athlete from a young age, he grew up playing basketball and soccer. His interest in podiatry began after shadowing a podiatrist, where he witnessed firsthand the meaningful impact foot and ankle care can have on patients’ quality of life. He was particularly drawn to the field’s unique blend of clinical medicine and surgical intervention.

Dr. Patel earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology from Michigan State University, followed by a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. He then completed a comprehensive residency in foot and ankle surgery at Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan, with advanced training in trauma, diabetic limb salvage, and complex reconstructive procedures. During his final year, he served as chief resident. To further specialize, he completed a fellowship in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery through the Kentuckiana Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Fellowship. He is board qualified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Patel treats a wide range of conditions, with expertise in trauma care, reconstructive surgery, diabetic limb preservation, advanced wound healing techniques, and sports medicine. He is passionate about helping patients return to function—whether it’s getting athletes back on the field, preventing limb loss in high-risk patients, or restoring mobility through surgical reconstruction. His approach centers on comprehensive, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s individual needs, while staying at the forefront of innovations in foot and ankle treatment.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Patel enjoys staying active through workouts and sports—especially basketball, football, and soccer. He also loves exploring new restaurants, traveling, spending time with friends, and cheering on his hometown teams, particularly the Detroit Lions and Detroit Pistons.
