Dr. Murray D. Spruiell is a member of The Orthopaedic Center’s Spine Team. Dr. Spruiell is an orthopaedic surgeon with additional fellowship training in spine surgery, and he now focuses his practice on all aspects of adult spinal surgery including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spinal disorders. Dr. Spruiell strongly believes in getting to know his patients, educating them on their spinal pathology, explaining the options for non-operative and operative treatment, and developing a personalized treatment plan for each patient.
Born and raised in Winfield, AL, he attended medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL. He and his wife Holly then moved west to Denver, CO to join the University of Colorado Department of Orthopedic Surgery for his residency. There, he gained extensive training in the management of degenerative and traumatic orthopaedic conditions. He then moved to California and completed additional training in Spine Surgery at the University of California – San Diego. There, he completed a rigorous and comprehensive training in all aspects of adult spine care. When surgery is necessary, he offers minimally invasive and traditional techniques to manage basic and complex conditions.

Dr. Spruiell was excellent. Very prompt, direct to the point but still very kind and professional patient interaction. He showed me my MRE results, explained the issue clearly, and consulted with me to quickly develop a course of action. Would strongly recommend.
Doctor was very quick to arrive after x-rays were taken and very proficient; waiting time of 45 minutes to go back was quite a bit longer than usual.

I had an Awesome appointment with Dr. Spruiell on yesterday! He recommended physical therapy and a treatment that no other Orthopedic Surgeon had informed me about.
Dr. Spruiell is very thorough, explains everything clearly and thoroughly, and has great bedside manner. He has performed tow surgeries for me and I highly recommend him.
He's very patient-oriented and speaks in a language that the can understand. He sets everything up so that you can start getting help quickly.
