Muhammad Anis Haider, MD

Dr. Muhammad Anis Haider, M.D., is an interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) in Gray.

Dr. Haider knows what it feels like to sit in the emergency waiting room. Watching his father and uncle survive heart attacks gave him his life’s purpose: helping others overcome cardiovascular disease and live longer, healthier lives.

Dr. Haider’s medical journey has spanned three continents. After placing first nationwide on Pakistan’s Medical College Admission Test, he earned his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences in Lahore. He then completed a Cardiovascular Research Fellowship at the William Acquavella Heart Valve Center at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and undertook Internal Medicine residency training at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. In the United Kingdom, he completed Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology training, earning dual Certificates of Completion of Training (CCT) in Interventional Cardiology and General Internal Medicine, MRCP(UK), and Best Trainee honors in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology.

Dr. Haider went on to complete an advanced Structural Heart Disease Interventional Fellowship at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, performing more than 750 structural heart procedures. These include transcatheter aortic, mitral, tricuspid, and pulmonary valve therapies; advanced catheter electrosurgery with BASILICA, UNICORN, and LAMPOON; left atrial appendage, PFO/ASD, and paravalvular leak closure; and alcohol septal ablation. His coronary experience includes more than 2,200 diagnostic coronary angiograms and 890 PCIs as first operator, including 125 left main bifurcation interventions.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Haider is committed to medical education, research, and physician leadership. He has authored peer-reviewed publications, invited editorials, and book chapters, presented at international cardiovascular meetings, and serves as a journal peer reviewer. He was an Associate Royal College Tutor for the Royal College of Physicians of London, taught procedural skills at the Hull Institute of Learning and Simulation, and was named Faculty of the Year at the 19th TCTAP Cardiovascular Summit in Korea. He is a member of the Society For Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions, American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, American Heart Association, European Society of Cardiology, and British Cardiovascular Intervention Society.

At CIS, Dr. Haider is expanding his skills in advanced catheter-based treatment of complex peripheral vascular disease under the mentorship of Professor Craig Walker, a world-renowned expert & leader in peripheral intervention. Combined with Dr Haider’s coronary and structural heart expertise, this training allows him to offer minimally invasive care across the spectrum of cardiovascular disease—from blocked vessels throughout the body to failing heart valves.
