Dr Wilmink has been my Orthopedist for over 5 years and other than in office injections, he has operated on both my shoulders within 12 months. As a former OR nurse, his chair side and bedside manner is that of a caring friend. Both my surgeries went better than expected. My first was a rotator cuff repair and I gotta say that by the 6 month mark, I had days that I actually forgot that I had surgery on that shoulder. It was a hard rehab and EVERYONE will say it is, but with him and his PA Andrienne, I was taken care of 100%. She is a real gem and pretty much a fortune teller when it comes to telling it like it is and what to expect post op. My second shoulder surgery was a decompression with a good clean up, and it went even better. If I had a third shoulder, I would gladly have him fix that one too. Sadly, I have a bum knee and he is managing that wonderfully and with minimal intervention until he tells me it’s ready!

He has done 3 total hips and knees for me.Every surgery has been excellent.He is the best surgeon I know. Also the whole team team is also well coordinated and thorough.

We just moved to the area about a year ago, and I needed a follow up exam for my 2 yr old hip replacement. I was referred to Ortho Arizona by my primary care doc and couldn’t be more pleased. Dr Wilmink was very personable and professional. X-rays were done and Dr Wilmink assured me everything was in good shape. Based on this visit, I’ll be returning for any future Ortho needs!

Doctor is great however ,the staff is horrible my mother appointment was at 3:30 I literally had to go to front desk and ask if they forgot about us this was at approximately 4:15 and the girl at counter told me that the doctor my mom was assigned to wasn’t in the specialty that my mom needed in the meantime my mother hand was swollen and she was in so much pain . I really don’t think the front desk staff is very professional

I like Dr. Wilmink, however the gel shot I got the week before Christmas only made my pain worse, much worse. Now I need a cane to walk. I called his office Monday 1/29 to tell him about this and today is 2/1 & have not received a call back. This just ads to my fear of surgery when no one returns my calls about pain for 3 days or more.

Dr. Wilmink performed Total Knee Replacent on my left knee first, then the right one. I am now completely recovered and Dr Wilmink turned back the clock about 5 years from where I was! Of course, I had to do the required physical therapy and home exercise, but I was happy to do it to achieve my independence again. Great bedside manner

Only reason he is not getting two but three stars because he was nice to me and informative and allowed me to speak before surgery. After surgery that completely changed and I was unable to get a word in edgewise. I don't know if I will be taking my other knee issue to him at this point. They did not put me into PT until the 1st of March. And now I have to go back under for manipulation. Just not sure why I'm being treated like I'm the one that did something wrong and physically and emotionally pained just making it worse.

He knows what he is doing. I always felt confident that he was going to fix all of the issues with my shoulder. 2 months after the surgery, my shoulder is back to about 80%, but it is still improving. I expect a 100% recovery in a few more months.

Loved Dr. Wilmink! I appreciate the chance to try some alternative methods rather than jumping right into another knee replacement (different knee 'tho). I do feel that my issue was identified accurately and he suggested the correct course of treatment (PT). However, I do believe his politics were involved in telling me that COVID19 is no longer a concern in Arizona when suggesting physical therapy. When I mentioned I will go in Humira he changed his mind about in-person PT being right for me. If COVID-19 infection is not a concern here, why would it matter if I’m on Humira? My other doctors are doing telemedicine exclusively and I find it hard to believe that they are all incorrect in having this concern. I also am not happy that I was told I do not have arthritis in my shoulder. I had undiagnosed PsA manifesting in my knees for years because a different orthopedic surgeon also did not see my arthritis on an x-ray. I have two rheumatologists who have verified an arthritis diagnosis, which I was told presents itself in my shoulders.

1 large issue. I spent 1 hour commuting. 1 hour waiting for a 5 minute consult that could have been done over the phone. We had previously discussed the solution to the issue that took 2 hours of my time. Not efficient for anyone. Especially me.

Incredible surgeon! Had a bi-lateral hip replacement and was up and about the day of surgery.

Dr. Wilmink explained and showed my wife and I, where and why my knee was degrading my lifestyle. He explained a corrective course of action, including the advantages and potential drawbacks of the procedure. My wife and I have chosen to proceed with a knee replacement.
