He has been the orthopaedic consultant for the St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles and the Cleveland Indians baseball teams. Dr. Smith was the Chief Physician for the Women’s Olympic Basketball team at the Goodwill Games in Moscow, Russia, and for the US Women’s Olympic Basketball Team during the Trials in Colorado Springs.
Dr. Smith has published many articles on sports medicine and has been the past sports medicine editor of Orthopaedics Today. He has been on the publications committee of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine as well as served on the council of Delegates Committee.
