Dr. Michael Saidel, M.D., is a distinguished corneal specialist and comprehensive ophthalmologist who joined North Bay Eye Associates medical staff in 2016. He is board-certified in Ophthalmology and specializes in diseases of the cornea, refractive surgery, and uveitis. From 2005 to 2016, he served as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at the University of Chicago.
Dr. Saidel earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago. He completed his ophthalmology residency training at Tulane University in 2004. He further specialized his expertise by completing a fellowship in cornea, uveitis, and refractive surgery at the University of California San Francisco - Proctor Foundation in 2005.

He employs all-laser, bladeless techniques for LASIK and performs corneal transplants using both traditional and endothelial techniques.

His two books, Ophthalmology Review Manual and Review Questions in Ophthalmology, are perennial best-sellers. He has received awards for his research through the American Academy of Ophthalmology and various residency programs. Dedicated to teaching, Dr. Saidel was awarded 'Teacher of the Year' twice at the University of Chicago, and his instructional courses on complex cataract surgery have been recognized as best in class.
Dr. Saidel is married and has two daughters. When not practicing ophthalmology, he enjoys taking his kids cycling and skiing. He is also an avid photographer and surfer. Dr. Saidel is currently seeing new and referral patients in the Petaluma and Sonoma offices.
