Dr. McKernan was an amazing surgeon. He did such a beautiful job on my reverse shoulder replacement enabling me as well as I was prior to the accident his demeanor is pleasant, enabling me to speak with him in a respectful and pleasant manner. He is a wonderful surgeon. I will recommend him to anyone that requires shoulder surgery.

I’ve known Dr mckernan over 3 years now and he’s always been very patient and very helpful & now that I had my surgery he was able to explain everything the full procedure and thank God everything went well he was also there after my surgery & he explained everything that he did and he also explained everything that I should not do. I’m glad I had him as my Doctor! I would recommend him to all my friends and family.

Prior to joining The CORE Institute, Dr. McKernan completed his Orthopedic Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship at Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Summa Health in Ohio where he was awarded Chief Resident. Dr. McKernan earned his Doctoral Degree at the University of Toledo College of Medicine, and his Master of Science in Biomedical Science was earned at the University of Toledo College of Graduate Studies. He earned his Bachelor of Science at the University of Notre Dame.
In his free time, Dr. McKernan enjoys golfing, hiking, skiing, and traveling. His early passion for art led to the creation of medical artwork that was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. McKernan received the 2021 AOA C. McCollister Evarts Leadership Award and is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
