I just received a total reverse shoulder replacement by Dr McKernan, and everything worked out like text book. Dr McKernan has a great ability to explain, and made me feel comfortable with the whole process. I will need a 2nd shoulder replacement for the other arm and anticipate getting it fixed by Dr McKernan.

Second surgery with Dr. McKernan for trigger finger release. Left hand came out so well, I did the right. He was absolutely perfect, in explaining the process and in the final outcome. I highly recommend him for your hand repair work. Thorough and professional

Prior to joining The CORE Institute, Dr. McKernan completed his Orthopedic Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship at Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Summa Health in Ohio where he was awarded Chief Resident. Dr. McKernan earned his Doctoral Degree at the University of Toledo College of Medicine, and his Master of Science in Biomedical Science was earned at the University of Toledo College of Graduate Studies. He earned his Bachelor of Science at the University of Notre Dame.
In his free time, Dr. McKernan enjoys golfing, hiking, skiing, and traveling. His early passion for art led to the creation of medical artwork that was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. McKernan received the 2021 AOA C. McCollister Evarts Leadership Award and is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
