Dr. McKernan is the top of the chain of command for my right hand arm and neck. He tells what I need and why. Then he tells me who on my team of 5 doctors is next to exams and review my chart. He gets all the reports and he allows each person involved to focus on their particular specialty. I have excellent care because he gives me the overview and sends me on to others in his team to check and advise and get me back on track. CORE has great Doctors, they work as a team and they have spectacular results. I appreciate all they do for me and how friendly and yet knowledgeable they are!

Prior to joining The CORE Institute, Dr. McKernan completed his Orthopedic Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship at Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Summa Health in Ohio where he was awarded Chief Resident. Dr. McKernan earned his Doctoral Degree at the University of Toledo College of Medicine, and his Master of Science in Biomedical Science was earned at the University of Toledo College of Graduate Studies. He earned his Bachelor of Science at the University of Notre Dame.
In his free time, Dr. McKernan enjoys golfing, hiking, skiing, and traveling. His early passion for art led to the creation of medical artwork that was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. McKernan received the 2021 AOA C. McCollister Evarts Leadership Award and is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
