The reviews listed below were collected independently of Healthstar Physicians through rater8. Each review represents an authentic and verified patient experience.
The first time I visited this office, I was seen by Dr. Berry. He was busy, so Dr. Hood treated me for a cat bite to my hand. His treatment for the cat bite was fine. I asked him to review the results of my blood work, which I had already studied the results myself. My LDL was 119, but he made me feel like I was going to drop dead of a heart attack at any minute & that I needed to go on prescription drugs immediately! I told him that I refuse to take any drugs & that I would rather adjust my diet, exercise, & do something wholistic! He kept insisting & would not take no for an answer. At this point, he spoke down to me & told me that he'd been practicing medicine for 50 yrs! Dr. Hood came across as a pill pusher! When I picked up the antibiotic prescription at Walgreens, I refused the statin prescription!

Dr. Hood gave me not one, but two much-needed pathways to relief from chronic pain during my last visit. I can’t thank him enough. He is my absolutely favorite curmudgeon, perhaps of all time. And I’ve known some curmudgeons. But seriously, kudos to the best doctor in Newport. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
