Michael E. Marchetti, M.D.

Dr. Michael Marchetti, M.D., is an orthopedic sports medicine specialist who helps patients with shoulder, knee, and hip injuries through both surgical and non-surgical treatments. He offers a full spectrum of care, from advanced imaging and targeted rehabilitation to minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery when needed. He is always tailoring treatment to each patient's goals and activity level.

Dr. Marchetti earned his Medical Degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA, where he was recognized early in his career with the Lange Medical Publications Award for Outstanding Achievement as a Medical Student and participation in the Senior Scholars Program. He remained at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center for his internship and orthopedic surgery residency, where he was honored as Chief Resident of the Year in 1998. To further specialize in athletic injuries, he completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the prestigious Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center in Minnesota.

Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Marchetti maintains active staff privileges at South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth, MA. He has been consistently recognized by his peers as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor since 2017. Dr. Marchetti stays closely connected to the latest advancements in his field through memberships in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the Eastern Orthopaedic Association (EOA), the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS), and the Massachusetts Orthopedic Association (MOA).

Throughout his career, Dr. Marchetti has made significant contributions to orthopedic research, with peer-reviewed publications appearing in The American Journal of Orthopedics, the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, and the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma. His published work covers a diverse range of topics, including complex meniscus anatomy, hip fracture-dislocations, and bone density changes following joint surgery.
