Michael J. Duval, M.D. is a fellowship-trained and board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the upper and lower extremities, as well as total joint replacement.
Dr. Duval serves as the head team physician for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Sports Medicine Program and serves as medical director for the university’s athletic department. He has been a team physician for UL and has been involved in the orthopedic care of Acadiana athletes since 1995.
Dr. Duval completed his orthopedic sports medicine fellowship training at Orthopedic Research of Virginia. Prior to his fellowship, he completed both his residency and medical school training at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and is an active member in the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Duval is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He also serves as a member of the Lafayette Parish Medical Society and State Medical Society.

First time meeting Dr.Duval , he was very professional and respectful. He listen as I explained to him my reason for coming to see him, and he took the time to explan what was happening and what was needed to be done. Skylar the practitioner gave me my injection was very polite and respectful she explained to me what she would be doing before doing it. The nurse that took me to the room before Dr. Duval came in was very nice and respectful in asking question. Everyone was very polite and respectful and professional. The lady in the front desk and the lady when I checked out all kind and professional. Thank y’all so much for making my visit a pleasant one.
Incredible specialist, had absolutely no questions after and had a solution for me almost immediately. Couldn’t recommend Dr.Mike more.
Went in on time. Liked my visit with Dr Duval. The NP did a excellent job of removing fluid in my knee and gave me the cortisone shot
Fantastic Dr Duval has repaired my damaged shoulder & I’m almost 100% again!
Wish he would spend more time so I can ask more questions
Took more time in visit to get surgery rather then asked questions to how I was doing. He was in an out in matter of minutes. My throat is still hurting from surgery did not have enough time to tell him. All I am is a number!!!
Dr. Duval and his staff are top notch! I’ve had two knee replacement surgeries within the last year Both surgeries went extremely well and as well as my rehab. I have no limitations and can do anything I want to do without any issues. I highly recommend De. Duval for your orthopedic care.
