Both Dr. Smith and his wife love Birmingham & Hoover, and think it is a great privilege to serve in such a dynamic community. Dr. Smith believes in patient-centered care that is thoughtful and focused on the patient’s goals. As a fellowship-trained hand surgeon and upper extremity surgeon, he is happy to provide treatments for ailments related to the shoulder, elbow, hand or microvascular problems.
My second problem with Dr Smith. I will choose him anytime I needed his service

Office is efficient and everyone I interacted with was helpful and kind. Dr. Smith clearly explained what was going on in my situation and took the time I needed to get all my questions answered. I highly recommend this practice.

This is the 2nd time I've used Dr. Smith for surgery (wrist previously, finger recently). He has taken the time to explain my issues and the surgery necessary to correct. His followup after surgery has been outstanding. I highly recommend him to anyone with hand issues.
Dr. Michael Smith is truly an exceptional physician. From my very first appointment, I felt like I was finally being heard, taken seriously, and treated with genuine compassion. He took the time to thoroughly review my situation, explain what was happening in a way I could understand, and answer my questions without ever making me feel rushed. What stood out most was his attention to detail and his willingness to look deeper instead of simply accepting what had been done before. He gave me clarity when I had been dealing with pain, frustration, and uncertainty for a long time. His knowledge, honesty, patience, and bedside manner are outstanding. It is rare to find a doctor who combines expertise with genuine concern for the person sitting in front of him. I am extremely grateful that my care was placed in his hands. I would recommend Dr. Smith without hesitation. Five stars truly are not enough.
