Dr. Michael Casale is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Casale provides comprehensive surgical and non-surgical care of foot and ankle conditions including, but not limited to, sports injuries, fractures, arthritis, and deformity. He is also skilled in the latest techniques in total ankle replacement.
Dr. Casale grew up in Cary, NC and began his academic career at the University of North Carolina, where he graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He received his medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Dr. Casale then completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. During his residency. Dr. Casale was awarded the Resident of the Year award in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as well as the Edward Frohlich Writing Award for outstanding resident research. He was also named a resident scholar by the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society. After his residency, he completed a fellowship in Foot and Ankle surgery at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Casale has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters, and has given multiple podium and poster presentations at national and international conferences. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS).
Outside of work, Dr. Casale lives in Raleigh with his wife and daughter. He enjoys being outside, watching sports, and attempting to learn how to play golf.

The staff were kind and courteous during the entire visit (check in, Doctor staff, Doctor, xray and equipment). I appreciated the appointment time being honored as well as I did not have to wait very long between each stage of the visit. Also, I did not feel that Dr Casale was in a rush during the visit. He took the time to explain this issue and answer my questions.
Excellent physician. Easy to communicate with regarding my pain in my ankles. Ready to help with strategies to reduce my pain and enable me to walk much easier. I would recommend him without hesitation. I am very lucky to have him as my physician.
Dr. Casale is great! He’s very patient, has a good bedside manner and explains everything to where it’s easy to understand. My Mother had a serious ankle break and Dr. Casale was simply the best. My Daughter also went Dr. Casale for her foot, which turned out to be a fracture and he she also healed great. Then I, myself, fell and I knew I had to go see Dr. Casale because I knew something was wrong with my foot. As it turns out, my foot was also broken and he is treating me as well as he treated my Mom and my Daughter. Dr. Casale is the best and now he’s treated 3 generations in my family. All I can say is “Thank You, Dr. Casale”.
