Dr. Michael A. Lapuente received his undergraduate degree from the University of Memphis where also played college soccer. He attended medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He completed his internship and residency at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. He then finished a fellowship at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, The Children’s Mercy Hospital, where his area of research focused on exhaled nitric oxide.
Prior to working at Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center (CAAC), Dr. Lapuente was in private practice in upstate New York. He moved south in 2005 and joined CAAC. For fun, Dr. Lapuente enjoys listening to his son perform music, playing soccer with his daughter, and watching international soccer matches.

He's a great doctor and he explains everything to you, and break it down to let's you know what's going on with your child. I really appreciate him for taking the time out to see my son and make sure he has the best care for now and in the future.

It’s been a pleasure to have Dr Lapuente take care of my allergy needs. He’s always been a caring Dr. and he is always willing to listen. I hate to see him leave the practice but glad he can retire and enjoy his life. Thank you Dr. Lapuente and best of luck, health & happiness to you & your family.
