Melanie L. McCarty, M.D.

Dr. Melanie L. McCarty, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon. She specializes in oculoplastic surgery and advanced technology cataract surgery.

Dr. Melanie McCarty is a fellowship trained oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeon. She has a special interest in surgical rejuvenation of the face and eyelids. She has performed thousands of functional and cosmetic eyebrow and eyelid surgeries. She currently offers surgical cosmetic services and nonsurgical options such as Botox, Dysport, and fillers such as Voluma, Radiesse, and Juvederm.

Dr. Melanie McCarty regularly performs cataract surgery. She is among the first four surgeons to be certified in laser assisted bladeless cataract surgery in southern Arizona. She has a special interest in advanced technology intraocular lenses and laser assisted cataract surgery.

Dr. McCarty graduated summa cum laude from Birmingham Southern College where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She completed medical school at the University of Alabama, School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee, Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee where she served as chief resident. Dr. McCarty did her fellowship training in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, Scheie Eye Institute, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Dr. McCarty is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Melanie McCarty participated in the Face to Face program where she educated fellow surgeons and operated in Saigon, Vietnam. She has published a number of peer-reviewed articles in the field of oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. McCarty is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. She has lived and practiced in Tucson, Arizona since 2005.
