Commenting to a teen about her anxiety levels and whether she should listen to the adults around her who know her, live with her and deal with her and her unique life situations and telling her she doesn’t need to listen to them but should only listen to the one med management Dr who sees her once every 3 months via a zoom camera for 5 minutes to make a judgment call about whether she has anxiety or not is probably not the most responsible thing you could have done as a doctor. Considering this child is coming to you for headache management, did it occur that there may be some underlying reasons for it? Please be aware that your words matter to a child who already thinks she doesn’t need help from ANYONE but is severely struggling.
