Dr. Mauran Sivananthan is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who completed his fellowship training at the University of Michigan. Prior to his medical training, he gained several years of experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings, which inspired his career in psychiatry. Dr. Sivananthan has held multiple clinical and leadership roles at Henry Ford Health, where he developed a sports psychiatry clinic serving local universities and created educational lecture series for residents.

Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Mauran Sivananthan attended Boston College, where he worked in an elementary school in Boston for three years. Between college and medical school, he served with AmeriCorps as a history teacher and organized after-school programming at a high school in Paterson, New Jersey. His many years of experience working with children and adolescents fostered a strong passion for serving this population and ultimately inspired his decision to pursue a career in psychiatry.
Dr. Sivananthan completed his training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Michigan before taking on several clinical and leadership roles at Henry Ford Health. During his time there, he developed a sports psychiatry clinic that serves local universities. He also created multiple lecture series covering topics such as advanced psychopharmacology, sports psychiatry, and advanced child and adolescent psychiatry, which he continues to deliver to residents. As chair of the Clinical Competency Committee, he oversaw the development and evaluation of residents. Dr. Sivananthan has been voted Mentor and Teacher of the Year multiple times by residents and has also been selected as a “Top Doc” by Detroit Hour Magazine on several occasions.
