Matthew R. Price, M.D.

Dr. Matthew R. Price, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, specializes in anterior hip replacement, outpatient minimally invasive hip and knee replacements, hip arthroscopy, cartilage preservation, gluteus medius repair, and complex hip and knee joint revisions. Since joining Ellis & Badenhausen Orthopaedics in 2010, he has been at the forefront of innovation, founding the region’s outpatient total joint replacement program in 2014. Dr. Price is the first physician in the area to complete a Hip Preservation Fellowship under Dr. Thomas Byrd at Vanderbilt University, mastering advanced techniques like the anterior hip approach for faster patient recovery. A sought-after educator, he frequently lectures and trains other surgeons nationally in joint reconstruction. Each year, Dr. Price mentors two fellows, providing hands-on training in his surgical specialties.

Dr. Price’s professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He earned his undergraduate degree at Miami University, a master’s in anatomical science from the University of Louisville, and his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his surgical internship and orthopedic residency at the University of Louisville and advanced training in adult reconstruction at Vanderbilt University’s Southern Joint Replacement Institute.
