Dr. Matthew R. Price, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, specializes in anterior hip replacement, outpatient minimally invasive hip and knee replacements, hip arthroscopy, cartilage preservation, gluteus medius repair, and complex hip and knee joint revisions. Since joining Ellis & Badenhausen Orthopaedics in 2010, he has been at the forefront of innovation, founding the region’s outpatient total joint replacement program in 2014. Dr. Price is the first physician in the area to complete a Hip Preservation Fellowship under Dr. Thomas Byrd at Vanderbilt University, mastering advanced techniques like the anterior hip approach for faster patient recovery. A sought-after educator, he frequently lectures and trains other surgeons nationally in joint reconstruction. Each year, Dr. Price mentors two fellows, providing hands-on training in his surgical specialties.
Dr. Price’s professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He earned his undergraduate degree at Miami University, a master’s in anatomical science from the University of Louisville, and his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his surgical internship and orthopedic residency at the University of Louisville and advanced training in adult reconstruction at Vanderbilt University’s Southern Joint Replacement Institute.

He always tells me the truth, even though I may not like it
Great physician, but he seems to be in hurry. He doesn’t give you a chance to ask all the questions you may have. It’s like he has one foot in the door and one out.
Dr. Price repaired my glut med tear in my hip successfully. I appreciate his expertise and professionalism more than he knows. He has improved my quality of life for sure.
In and out within 35 minutes and that’s with surgery and PT scheduled. Dr. Price is straight to the point with the best options for you. By far the best doctors office I’ve been to.

Dr Price helped me so much after a car accident impact caused a tear in my left hip labrum. I had been in pain and discomfort daily and after he surgically repaired it, I feel back to normal and back to activity. No pain at 6 months out at all. I am so grateful to him. I had previously seen a Norton orthopedic practice who made me go thru the PT motions (made it worse) before referring for an mri. Once the mri came back showing the tear, they wanted to have me try a few months of cortisone or pain injections. (These tears don’t heal themselves !) That would only delay my misery and not allow me to get on with my typically active life and plans I had for travel in the months ahead. I called Ellis and Badenhausen and they got me an appt with Dr Price within days and after discussing all the options, i was scheduled for surgery at that appointment. He listened to me and took me seriously. I will always refer people I know to him. Fantastic!

Dr. Price said is knowledgeable, thorough and quick. He’s a great doctor but be sure to let him know everything you are concerned about.
